Dying Hearts
I was laughing, and it was great. My hand was pressed against yours, our fingers intertwined. We were sitting in the grass under our tree.
"Better a tree in the shade then a bench in the sun, eh?" You said, smiling at me.
"I don't care, as long as I'm with you." I replied, leaning over and hugging you.
Wrapping your arms around me, you held me while I rested my head on your shoulder.
"I love you." I whispered, closing my eyes.
"I love you too." You told me.
Watching this scene, my heart ached. The way we looked at each other, just seeing the lights shining in our eyes nearly sent me over the edge.
We we're so naïve, what had happened? The thought of us changing and growing apart made my heart die, as if it hadn't already.
Turning away, I walked from the scene.
It doesn't matter anymore, these were just kids that I once knew.
